Most people think that you need to have a fancy machine to create accurate copies of their DVDs and that they will need special media to do so. The fact of the matter is that any plain computer with a DVD reader and writer drive will be able to make copies as long as they have the proper software. There are both free and paid methods to make copies of DVDs and it is important to look into using the one that best suits your needs.

Free Software – One of the best options for most people is free software. There are several different options available for DVD replication through free software that simply read the disk and make an image of the disk to be burned with the appropriate DVD authoring software. This can be done with several of the options that are available online and with most computers that come with standard CD/DVD writing software included. There is no guarantee that the free options will work and you are on your own when it comes to DVD protection.

Paid Software – A more suitable option for those who need a perfect copy is to use paid software for cloning DVDs. These options are designed to be compatible with any system and are supported with almost any compatible hardware. If you need to copy a certain DVD that has protection on it, the software creators may have already found a workaround for you to allow you to make personal copies of the DVD.
